HFAG Response to BCC SEALR Consultation 30.11.17

  1. Adam says:

I am very concerned about these plans, I live at the top of the estate, and would be within earshot of this link road. The environmental impact alone would be profound.

And I suspect that the work will open up the surrounding area to further housing development in the future.

Furthermore, the site is a priceless natural buffer preserving and separating the unique cultural identities of Aylesbury, Stoke Mandeville and Weston Turville. Such a buffer would be permanently lost if planning permission were to be approved.

I totally agree. The issue is that the traffic modelling they have done so far excludes any housing. So the working assumption of BCC is that the road will be built without any housing along it. This is pure fiction as we all know. The housing, when it is put there will undoubtably cause the merging of Stoke Mandeville with Aylesbury. I do not think people are fully aware of this yet.

  2. Adam says:

Have you seen the plans for 800 new houses between Lower Road, Stoke Mandeville and Wendover Road?
These are in addition to the South East Aylesbury Link Road (SEALR)

How do we make people in the South of Aylesbury more aware?
I volunteer to help in any way.

    • Phil Yerby says:

Yes, we have seen them. Its part of the whole plan to put over 15,000 houses around Aylesbury. It proposes to use the SEALR as part of the road access. We have been saying for some considerable time that the transport plans do not work but the planners at AVDC and BCC simply ignore us. The only course of action open to us is to oppose these things through the law which is what we intend to do – that includes the SEALR.
As far as making people aware we are not planning any major campaign against this as it by definition will fall if the road infrastructure plan fails as part of the VALP – we are focusing our efforts there and on the scrutiny of the SEALR.
