Some people have asked where HFAG stands on the Weston Turville Neighbourhood Plan (WTNP), coming up for referendum on 19 July.

The strengths of the Plan are that it will help protect some green space in the village and some important views. It should also give some protection to the outward development beyond the boundaries of the village, although this is not guaranteed. The weaknesses are that it is required to be based on the Vale of Aylesbury Local Plan (VALP), which is recommending the major developments on Hampden Fields and Woodlands. This is despite those developments falling firmly within the neighbourhood plan boundary.

HFAG continue to fight against the adoption of the VALP and the granting of planning permission to both Hampden Fields and Woodlands. However, having looked extensively the WTNP our judgment is that it does not affect those issues one way or another.  So, mainly to secure the protections mentioned above, we recommend a Yes vote.

Most importantly, we encourage everyone to read the Neighbourhood Plan – it’s not that long – form your own view, and vote accordingly.
